Attendance

Student attendance is number 1!

At Purche we are striving for better attendance this year. Please try to meet a 100% attendance rate. Student attendance and student achievement are closely linked. Students who develop patterns of good attendance are much more likely to be successful both academically and socially. Parents/guardians are responsible for ensuring that their child comes to school every day and on time. We are responsible for enforcing the Compulsory Education Laws, which mandate that students are punctual and attend the full length of the school day. When your child is absent from school, he/she must return to school with a written excuse from the doctor or the parent. Please make sure that your child does not miss more than 5 days of school each year. When a child does miss school, please make sure that it is due to an illness or family emergency. Please schedule all vacations and medical appointments during holidays and after school hours. All extended absences (five or more consecutive days) will be investigated. Truancy is defined as any student between the ages of 6-18 years old who has accumulated 3 full days of unexcused absences, or 3 days of unexcused tardies of 30 minutes or more. When students are truant, parents will be required to attend a truancy meeting to support them in improving their child’s attendance. For students who attend school daily and on time there are positive incentives:

1. Classroom rewards for the best attendance.

2. Monthly attendance recognition awards and prizes.

3. Annual attendance recognition, awards, and prizes.
